As first reported by Big League Politics, in a 2014 Facebook post, House of Delegates candidate Ibraheem Samirah said that sending aid to Israel was worse than funding the KKK. Samirah also dismisses the Holocaust because it occurred “thousands of miles away” from his family.
Jay Ipson, Holocaust survivor and co-founder of the Virginia Holocaust Museum had this to say in reaction to Samirah’s posts: “His positions are anti-Semitic. None of what he is talking about is accurate.”
Not only did he compare Israel to the KKK, he also gloated over the death of Ariel Sharon, the 11th Prime Minister of Israel.
The Democratic Party of Virginia emphatically endorsed Samirah, tweeting and sending a fundraising email on his behalf.
“The Democratic Party of Virginia must denounce and rescind their support for Ibraheem Samirah,” said RPV Chairman Jack Wilson. “It is alarming how many times we have had to reiterate that racism and bigotry have no home in Virginia. Samirah should apologize to the Jewish people that live here in Virginia and withdraw his candidacy for the Virginia House of Delegates.”
