OFFICIAL CALL

FIREHOUSE PRIMARY

of the 7th legislative District Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia

As Chairman of the7th Legislative District of the Republican Party of Virginia and pursuant to the plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the committee, I Gene Bishop, do hereby issue this call for a Firehouse Primary beginning at 8:00 A.M. local time and ending at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the following or their alternate locations.

Floyd County – Floyd County Administrative Building, 218 W Oxford St. Floyd, Va 24091

Montgomery County-Montgomery Government Center, 755 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg Va. 24073

Pulaski County – Meeting Room, Pulaski County Library, 60, 3rd St. NW. Pulaski, Va. 24301

For the following purposes

A. Electing a Republican candidate for the7the Legislative District for the Virginia House of Delegates who will appear on the November 5,2019 General Election ballot as the Republican Nominee. Anyone may attend Firehouse Primary but only registered voters from 7th Legislative district may vote for their respective candidates.

Candidate Filing Requirements

All persons who wish to have their names placed on the ballot as a candidate for election at said Fire House Primary shall file

1.A Letter of Intent,

2.A Notarized Loyalty Oath

3.A filing fee of ($700.00 – Seven Hundred Dollars ) to the Floyd County Republican Committee ( memo for 7th Legislative Committee Filing Fee) to 7th Legislative District GOP Chairman Gene Bishop (cell 540-629-0769 ) (Home 540-789-4282 ) e-mail <[email protected]> or his designee at 194 Indian Creek Rd. Willis, Va 24380 not before March 1 at 12:00 Noon and no later than 5:00 P.M. on March 15, 2019 ( Postmarks do not Govern ) ( e-mail not accepted ). The First Candidate to file will have their name placed first on the ballot, if two candidates file at the same time a coin toss will determine the order of the candidate on the ballot. Candidate who receives the plurality of the votes cast shall be the nominee. If only one candidate applies they shall be deemed the nominee and the respective Firehouse Primary shall be cancelled.

Rules; The 7th District Legislative Republican Committee may from time to time establish rules by which to determine candidates as the need arises.

Voters Eligibility; Voters who are registered as of Friday April 5,2019 and prior thereto are eligible to vote in the firehouse primary.

Write- in Candidates; Write-in candidates will not be allowed in the firehouse primary and any vote for a write-in candidate will not be recognized.

There will be no absentee or early voting.

Recount-If a 2% or less difference in the vote totals of the top two candidates occurs, a automatic recount will be preformed.,

 

Qualifications for Participation

All legal and qualified voters of the 7th Legislative District, under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.
