DESCRIPTION:OFFICIAL CALL \nMass Meeting \nScott County Republican Committee \nof the Republican Party of Virginia \n  \nAs Chairman of the Scott County Republican Committee\, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee\, I\, Terry Sivert\, do hereby issue this call for a Mass Meeting to be held at Scott County Courthouse. 202 West Jackson Street\, Gate City\, VA 24251\, starting at 6:00 pm with registration opening at 5:30pm local time on March\, 10th\, 2022 for the following purposes: \n\n1. To elect a unit chairman\, vice-chairman\, second vice-chairman\, treasurer\, secretary\, and members to the unit committee; \n\n\n2. Electing up to 325 Delegates and an equal number of Alternates to the Ninth Congressional District Republican Convention\, to be held on Saturday\, April 23\, 2022 at the Wytheville Meeting Center\, 333 Community Blvd.\, Wytheville\, VA 24382\, or its alternate site\, beginning at 10:00 a.m. (with registration from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.) for the purposes of: \n\na. electing a District Chairman\, and \nb. the transaction of other business as may properly come before the Convention. \n  \nEach unit is entitled to one (1) Delegate Vote per 250 Republican votes cast for Governor and President at their last election\, so that Scott County is entitled to 65 Delegate Votes; \n3. And for the transaction of such other business as may properly come before the mass meeting.\n  \nQualifications for Participation \nAll legal and qualified voters of Scott County under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia\, regardless of race\, religion\, national origin or sex\, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who\, if requested\, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required\, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election\, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings\, party canvasses\, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts. \n  \nIn addition to the foregoing\, to be in accord with the principles of the Republican Party\, unless otherwise stipulated by the appropriate Official Committee\, a person otherwise qualified hereunder shall not have participated in Virginia in the nomination process of a party other than the Republican Party within the last five years. \n  \nA single exception to this shall be approved for a voter that renounces affiliation with any other party in writing\, and who expresses in writing that he/she is in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and intends\, at the time of this writing\, to support the nominees of the Republican Party in the future. Any voter that utilizes the forgoing exception\, and thereafter participates in the nomination process of a party other than the Republican Party\, shall not have the benefit of the exception thereafter. \n  \nVoters may be required to produce personal identification such as a valid photo ID that is acceptable for voting purposes in order to participate. \nFiling Requirements \n  \nCandidates for election for UNIT CHAIRMAN\, VICE-CHAIRMAN\, SECOND VICE-CHAIRMAN\, TREASURER\, SECRETARY\, Members of the Scott County Republican Committee\, or as a delegate or alternate delegate to the Ninth Congressional District Republican Convention at said mass meeting shall file a written statement by mail or in person\, to Terry Sivert\, 131 Faith Drive\, Gate City\, VA 24251\, which must be received not later than 6:00 pm\, February 25th\, 2022  and accompanied by any fees required.  Postmarks shall not govern. \n  \nCandidacy filing fees are as follows: \n• Unit Chairman – $10.00 filing fee.\n• Unit Committee Member – $10.00 dues for 2 years. (To be paid with prefiling.)\n• Delegate/Alternate Delegate to the Ninth District Republican Convention – $ 10.00 registration fee (MANDATORY).\n  \nPlease make checks payable to the Scott County Republican Party. \n  \nUncontested Offices/Cancellation of Mass Meeting \n  \nIf no more than one candidate properly files for election to any office to be voted upon at the mass meeting\, that candidate will be declared elected.
