A\nsingle exception shall be approved for a voter that renounces affiliation with any other\nparty in writing\, and who expresses in writing that he or she is in accord with the principles\nof the Republican Party and intends to support the nominees of the Republican Party in\nthe future. A voter who utilizes the foregoing exception\, and thereafter participates in the\nnomination process of a party other than the Republican Party\, shall not have the benefit\nof the exception identified in this paragraph thereafter. The 27th Senatorial District\nRepublican Committee will provide a copy of all signed renunciation statements to the\nRepublican Party of Virginia\, to be maintained for a period of five years.\nAny voter who\, subsequent to making a statement of intent\, publicly supports a candidate\nin opposition to a Republican nominee is not qualified to participate as a member of the\nRepublican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings\, party canvasses\, conventions\, or\nprimaries for a period of four (4) years. \nBalloting \nBalloting will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will end at 2:00 p.m.\, except that anyone in the\nregistration line at 2:00 p.m. may continue the registration process. In order to receive a\nballot\, the voter must present a valid\, non-expired photo identification issued by the\nCommonwealth of Virginia\, one of its political subdivisions\, or the United States\ngovernment.\nA statement of intent\, properly completed and signed by the voter\, must be submitted at\nthe time of registration. No ballot will be given to any voter who has not signed and\nsubmitted this statement of intent.\nNo absentee voting\, proxies\, or provisional ballots are permitted.\nNo registration fees are required for voting in this party canvass.\nVotes will NOT be weighted\, and will be counted only for those candidates whose names\nappear on the official ballot. A written statement of intent (Committee Membership Application) containing the following details shall be required:  full legal name\, office sought\, physical and mailing address\, email address\, and telephone number. Applications can be downloaded from the Republican Party of Lee County website at www.leevagop.com. Applications must be RECEIVED by 5:00 p.m. on Friday\, January 12\, 2018 by mail. Applications shall be addressed to the Lee County Republican Committee\, P.O. Box 101\, Jonesville\, VA 24263. Postmarks shall not govern. DESCRIPTION:OFFICIAL CALL \nMass Meeting of the Lee County Committee \nof the Republican Party of Virginia \nThursday\, January 18\, 2018 \n6:30 p.m. \nLee County Circuit Court Courtroom \n33640 Main Street \nJonesville\, Virginia 24263 \n  \nAs Chairman of the Lee County Republican Committee\, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee\, I\, Bobby Slusher\, do hereby issue this call for a Mass Meeting to be held at the Lee County Courthouse\, Circuit Court Courtroom\, 33640 Main Street\, Jonesville\, Virginia 24263 or its alternative site\, starting at 6:30 p.m. local time on January 18\, 2018 for the following purpose: \n  \n\na)  Electing a Lee County Republican Committee Chairman;\nb)  Electing Officers of the Lee County Republican Committee as follows: Vice- Chairman\, Secretary\, and Treasurer;\nc)  Electing members of the Lee County Republican Committee;\nd)  Electing up to 255 Delegates and an equal number of Alternates to the Ninth  Congressional District Republican Committee Convention\, to be held on  Saturday\, April 21\, 2018 at George Wythe High School\, #1 Maroon Way\,  Wytheville\, VA 24382\, beginning at 10:00 a.m. local time for the purpose of  electing a District Chairperson of the Ninth Congressional District Republican   Each unit is entitled to one (1) Delegate Vote per 250 Republican  votes for Governor and President at their last election\, so that Lee County is  entitled to 51 Delegate Votes;\ne)  And for the transaction of such other business as may properly come before the  mass meeting. \n\nQualifications for Participation \nAll legal and qualified voters of Lee County under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia\, regardless of race\, religion\, national origin or sex\, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who\, if requested\, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required\, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election\, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings\, party canvasses\, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts. \nFiling Requirements \nCandidates for election as Chairman\, Vice-Chairman\, Treasurer\, or Secretary of the Lee County Republican Committee are required to pre-file their intention to seek such offices. A written statement of intent (Committee Membership Application) containing the following details shall be required:  full legal name\, office sought\, physical and mailing address\, email address\, and telephone number. Applications can be downloaded from the Republican Party of Lee County website at www.leevagop.com. Applications must be RECEIVED by 5:00 p.m. on Friday\, January 12\, 2018 by mail. Applications shall be addressed to the Lee County Republican Committee\, P.O. Box 101\, Jonesville\, VA 24263. Postmarks shall not govern. No statements in any form will be accepted after the aforementioned deadline.   \nIndividuals seeking to be delegates or alternates to the district convention or members of the Lee County Republican Committee are not required to pre-file.  Individuals wishing to be elected delegates or alternates to the district and/or state conventions should attend the Mass Meeting or contact Travis Mullins\, Vice-Chairman\, prior to the Mass Meeting date for information on how to be considered for election at the Mass Meeting.  \n  \nRegistration Fee \nThere will be NO registration fee to participate in this Mass Meeting or to seek any position within the Committee. \nHowever\, The Ninth Congressional District Republican Committee is requiring a MANDATORY $10 filing fee from all individuals seeking election as a Delegate to the Ninth Congressional District Convention. Checks need to be made out to the “Lee County Republican Party”.   \n  \nPaid for and authorized by the Lee County Republican Committee\, Bobby Slusher\, Chairman.
