DESCRIPTION:OFFICIAL CALL\nParty Canvass of Mathews County Republican Committee\nof the Republican Party of Virginia \n\nAs Chairman of the Mathews County Republican Committee of the Republican Party\,\nand pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the\nCommittee\, I\, Sonny Fauver\, do hereby issue this call for a Party Canvass to be held at\nthe Piankatank Ruritan Club\, 7138 Buckley Hall Road\, Hudgins VA 23076\, from\n12:00 pm to 7:00 pm local time on Monday\, May 22\, 2023 for the following purposes:\nNominating Republican candidates for the offices of Mathews County Board of\nSupervisors\, Clerk of the Court\, Commonwealth’s Attorney\, Sheriff\, Commissioner of\nRevenue\, and Treasurer\, to be voted for in the GENERAL election on November 7\,\n2023.\n\nQualifications for Participation\n\nAll legal and qualified voters of the Mathews County under the laws of the\nCommonwealth of Virginia\, regardless of race\, religion\, national origin or sex\, who are\nin accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who\, if requested\, express in\nopen meeting either orally or in writing as may be required\, their intent to support all of\nits nominees for public office in the ensuing election\, may participate as members of the\nRepublican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings\, party canvasses\, conventions or\nprimaries encompassing their respective election districts.\n\nFiling Requirements\n\nCandidates for the nomination or election at said canvass shall file a written statement\nby mail or in person\, to Byron Rauch at 1430 Knight Wood Road Diggs\, Va 23045\,\nwhich must be received not later than 5:00 p.m. Monday\, April 24\, 2023. Note:\nPostmarks do not govern. If the number of persons that properly file for each office\ndoes not exceed the number of persons to be elected to that office\, then such properly\nfiled persons shall be declared nominated or elected as the case may be\, and no canvass\nwill be held for such purpose. DESCRIPTION:OFFICIAL CALL \nRoanoke County Republican Party Canvass \n  \nAs Chairman of the Roanoke County Republican Committee\, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee\, I\, Ashley Suetterlein\, do hereby issue this call for a Party Canvass to be held at South County Library\, located at 6303 Merriman Road\, Roanoke\, Virginia. from 3 PM to 7 PM local time on Tuesday\, May 30\, 2023 for the purpose of nominating a Republican candidate for the office of Roanoke County Commissioner of Revenue\, to be voted on in the General Election to be held on November\, 7\, 2023. \n  \nQualifications for Participation in the Canvass \nAll legal and qualified voters of Roanoke County under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia\, regardless of race\, religion\, national origin or sex\, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party\, and who\, if requested\, express in public meeting either orally or in writing as may be required\, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election\, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings\, party canvasses\, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts. \n  \nA voter who\, subsequent to making a statement of intent\, publicly supports a candidate in opposition to a Republican nominee shall not be qualified for participation in party actions as defined in the Republican Party of Virginia Plan of Organization’s Article I for a period of four (4) years. \n  \nIn addition to the foregoing\, to be in accord with the principles of the Republican Party\, unless otherwise stipulated by the appropriate Official Committee\, a person otherwise qualified hereunder shall not have participated in Virginia in the nomination process of a party other than the Republican Party within the last five years. A single exception to this shall be approved for a voter that renounces affiliation with any other party in writing\, and who expresses in writing that he/she is in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and intends\, at the time of the writing\, to support the nominees of the Republican Party in the future. Any voter that utilizes the foregoing exception\, and thereafter participates in the nomination process of a party other than the Republican Party\, shall not have the benefit of the exception identified in this paragraph thereafter. \n  \nVoting Location \nVoting will take place in Meeting Room 1 at South County Library\, located at 6303 Merriman Road\, Roanoke\, Virginia. \n  \nCandidate Filing Requirements \nCandidates for the Republican nomination of Commissioner of Revenue at the canvass shall file a written statement of candidacy (on an official prefiling form) in person with Chairman Ashley Suetterlein not later than 5:00 pm on Thursday\, April 6\, 2023. Chairman Suetterlein may be contacted at 540.632.0467 or RoanokeRepublicans@gmail.com. \n  \nPrefiling forms shall be available online at www.virginia.gop or from Chairman Suetterlein. Candidate statements must be accompanied by a $2\,000 filing fee on a check made payable to the Roanoke County Republican Committee. The candidate statement shall include affirmative declarations of (1) his or her intent to support the Republican Party’s nominee in the 2023 General Election and (2) signifying that if he or she is not successful in receiving the nomination of the Republican Party\, he or she will not allow his or her name to be printed on the ballot for the November 7\, 2023 General Election. \n  \nIf only one candidate properly files\, then said candidate shall be declared the Republican nominee and no canvass will be held. \n  \nConduct of the Canvass \nVoters offering to vote must be properly registered in Roanoke County\, must present a government issued photo ID. Each voter must also sign a statement of intent to support the Republican Party’s nominees on November 7\, 2023. Persons who do not meet these requirements will not be allowed to participate. \n  \nRules for the conduct of the Canvass will be promulgated by the Roanoke County Republican Committee and will be available online at www.virginia.gop. \n  \nRegistration Fee \nThere is no registration fee to vote in this canvass. \n  \nFiling Form
