A single exception to this shall be approved for a voter that renounces affiliation with any other party in writing\, and who expresses in writing that he/she is in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and intends\, at the time of the writing\, to support the nominees of the Republican Party in the future. Any voter that utilizes the foregoing exception\, and thereafter participates in the nomination process of a party other than the Republican Party\, shall not have the benefit of the exception identified in this paragraph thereafter. \n  \nVoting Location \nVoting will take place in Meeting Room 1 at South County Library\, located at 6303 Merriman Road\, Roanoke\, Virginia. \n  \nCandidate Filing Requirements \nCandidates for the Republican nomination of Commissioner of Revenue at the canvass shall file a written statement of candidacy (on an official prefiling form) in person with Chairman Ashley Suetterlein not later than 5:00 pm on Thursday\, April 6\, 2023. The candidate statement shall include affirmative declarations of (1) his or her intent to support the Republican Party’s nominee in the 2023 General Election and (2) signifying that if he or she is not successful in receiving the nomination of the Republican Party\, he or she will not allow his or her name to be printed on the ballot for the November 7\, 2023 General Election. \n  \nIf only one candidate properly files\, then said candidate shall be declared the Republican nominee and no canvass will be held. \n  \nConduct of the Canvass \nVoters offering to vote must be properly registered in Roanoke County\, must present a government issued photo ID. Each voter must also sign a statement of intent to support the Republican Party’s nominees on November 7\, 2023. Ferguson at aferguson.hcrcchair@gmail.com or at 10148 L.\nP. Bailey Memorial Highway\, Virginia by Tuesday\, the 2 \nnd of May\, by 6:00 P.M. local time.
