The successful candidate for chair must win by a majority vote. If no candidate secures a majority in the initial count\, the candidate receiving the fewest votes will be eliminated from contention\, and the ballots which marked that candidate as first choice will be divided among the remaining candidates based upon which remaining candidate was marked as next highest choice. This process will repeat until one candidate receives a majority of the votes cast. If the margin of victory is less than 1%\, the ballots for the top two candidates shall be recounted. \nMILITARY MEMBERS AS DELEGATES \nMilitary Members (any members of the Virginia National Guard\, or the United States Armed Forces\, Merchant Marine\, or Coast Guard currently serving on active duty) who comply with these filing requirements shall not be required to be elected\, but shall be declared delegates pursuant to Article VIII\, Section H. of the Plan of Organization of the Republican Party of Virginia. \nMilitary Member delegates or alternate delegates who are unable to attend the convention in person due to obligations of their official military orders shall have their votes cast within their unit delegation according to candidate preference ballots.
