Jay Jones Is Too Ashamed of His Own Record to Defend It

Democrat Attorney General nominee Jay Jones has officially refused to debate Attorney General Jason Miyares, dodging an invitation from 7 News and denying Virginians the opportunity to hear him defend his own record.

The reason is obvious: Soft Jay Jones is too ashamed of his soft-on-crime record to defend it.

Jay Jones wrote legislation that gave violent criminals early release from prison—legislation that has resulted in over 7,300 new victims, including 53 murdered Virginians, 24 rapes, and hundreds of assaults and robberies. He voted to allow murderers and rapists early parole, voted against mandatory jail time for serial abusers, and even opposed making it a felony to sell fentanyl that kills someone.

No wonder he’s running from the cameras.

If Jay Jones can’t even bring himself to stand on a debate stage and defend his own record, he doesn’t deserve the vote of a single hard-working Virginian who wants to live in a safe community. The people of Virginia need an Attorney General who will protect them—not someone who protects criminals and hides from the truth.

Jason Miyares has shown up, spoken out, and delivered results. Jay Jones just disappeared.
