58th House of Delegates Republican LDC Meeting

We, the undersigned members of the 58th LDC, comprising 79.99 weighted voting strength of the
Committee, do hereby call for a meeting of the 58th House of Delegates Republican Legislative District
Committee on Monday, December 17, 2018. The meeting will begin at 12:00PM (noon) at Riverside
Lunch North, 1770 Timberwood Blvd. Charlottesville, VA 22911, or alternate site if needed. The new
Republican Party weighted voting strength in use for this meeting will be: Albemarle 34.21%, Fluvanna
21.34%, Greene 24.44%, and Rockingham 20.01%. The principle order of business will be the items listed
below or other matters as the Chairman may determine.
Order of Business
1) Call to Order & Welcome
2) Invocation, Pledge, & Reading of the Republican Creed
3) Roll Call
4) Reading of the Minutes from the 12/19/2016 Meeting
5) Election of New Chairman
6) Election of new Recording Secretary
7) Selection of nominating method for the 58th District of the House of Delegates
a) State Party Plan- Article V Section D paragraph 1a reads as follows:
“ The Legislative District Committee shall determine whether candidates for Legislative District
public office shall be nominated by Mass Meeting, Party Canvass, Convention, or Primary, where
permitted to do so under Virginia Law.”
b) Options:
a. Canvass: has flexible rules regarding locations for voting, defining eligible voters, hours, etc
b. Mass Meeting/ Convention: LDC organizes under RPV rules
c. Open Primary: State rules
Note: The phrase “under Virginia Law” results in the interaction of multiple Virginia codes.
