OFFICIAL CALL MASS MEETING

BEDFORD COUNTY REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE

 

As Chairman of the BEDFORD COUNTY UNIT COMMITTEE of the Republican Party of

Virginia, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended by the Committee, I,

TIMOTHY P. GRIFFIN, do hereby issue this call for a Mass Meeting to be held at the Jefferson

Forest High School auditorium, 1 Cavalier Circle, Forest, Virginia 24551 or alternative location

as determined by the Chairman, starting at 10:00 AM local time on Saturday, March 16, 2024,

for the following purposes:

A) Election of a Bedford County Republican Committee Chairman. Any candidate running

for Bedford County Republican Committee Chairman must declare his or her intention to

run for Chairman to Mary Katherine Bennett in writing, by mail (1053 Soyer Circle, Forest,

VA, 24551), email ([email protected]), or personal delivery, in all cases

received by February 23, 2024, at 5:00 PM. The candidate’s written declaration must

demonstrate his or her intention to support all duly nominated Republican candidates, along

with a filing fee payable to the Republican Party of Bedford County of $100.00. The

electronic or paper copy of the candidate’s intention to run must be received by February

23, 2024 at 5:00 PM. Postmarks do not govern;

B) Election of Bedford County Republican Committee members. Candidates for committee

membership at said mass meeting shall pre-file the application for membership to the

Bedford County Republican Committee beginning February 15th, 2024, and ending March

8th, 2024 at 5:00 PM. Completed applications along with membership dues of $20.00 are

to be mailed to Mary Katherine Bennett at 1053 Soyer Circle, Forest, VA 24551 or hand

delivered to her in-person. Checks need to be made out to the “Republican Party of

Bedford,” but cash will be accepted. Postmarks do not govern, and it is the responsibility

of the prospective member to confirm receipt of application and dues. The membership

application is attached to this Call;

C) Election of up to 1,330 delegates and an equal number of Alternate Delegates to the

Virginia Republican Convention to be held from May 31 to June 1 at the Hampton Roads

Convention Center, 1610 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, VA 23666, or an alternative site, if

necessary, for the following purposes:

1) Election of a State Committee Chair;

2) Election of a National Committeeman or Committeewoman; and

3) Election of two (2) Presidential Electors for the Electoral College

The Republican Party of Virginia is requiring a $45 filing fee for each person standing

for election as a delegate or alternate delegate to the RPV Convention. A separate check

needs to be made out to the “Republican Party of Bedford.” Cash can be accepted.

D) Election of up to 610 delegates and an equal number of alternates to the Republican Party

of Virginia’s 5th Congressional District Convention, to be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at

Drakes Branch Volunteer Fire Department, 4801 Drakes Main Street, Drakes Branch,

Virginia or its alternate site, beginning at 10:00 AM for the following purposes:

1) Electing a 5th District Chairman for a term of two years;

2) Electing three members of the 5th District to the Republican Party of Virginia State

Central Committee for a term of four years;

3) Nominating one Elector candidate for the Presidential Election on November 5, 2024;

and

4) For the transaction of any other business as may properly come before the 5th

Congressional District Convention.

The 5th Congressional District Republican Committee is requiring a $20 filing fee from

all individuals seeking election as a delegate or alternate delegate to the 5th Congressional

District Republican Convention. A separate check needs to be made out to the

“Republican Party of Bedford.” Cash can be accepted. Delegate forms for the 5th

Congressional District Convention are attached to this Call;

E) Election of up to 855 delegates and an equal number of alternates to the Republican Party

of Virginia’s 9th Congressional District Convention, to be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at

Wytheville Meeting Center, 333 Community Blvd., Wytheville, Virginia or its alternate

site, beginning at 10:00 AM for the following purposes:

1) Electing a 9th District Chairman for a term of two years;

2) Electing three members of the 9th District to the Republican Party of Virginia State

Central Committee for a term of four years;

3) Nominating one Elector candidate for the Presidential Election on November 5, 2024;

and

4) For the transaction of any other business as may properly come before the 9th

Congressional District Convention.

The 9th Congressional District Republican Committee is requiring a $10 filing fee from

all individuals seeking election as a delegate or alternate delegate to the 9th Congressional

District Republican Convention. A separate check needs to be made out to the

“Republican Party of Bedford.” Cash can be accepted. Delegate forms for the 5th

Congressional District Convention are attached to this Call; and

F) Transaction of such other business as may properly come before the Mass Meeting.
