Halifax Co. Party Canvass

As Chairman of the Halifax County Republican Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia, and pursuant to
the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Andrew D. Ferguson, do
hereby issue this call for a Party Canvass to be held at the Cluster Springs Fire Department, 1168 Cluster
Springs Road, Cluster Springs, Virginia – or alternate location – from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. local time on
Tuesday, the 16th of May, for the purpose of nominating republican candidates for the offices of Clerk of the
Circuit Court, Sheriff, Commonwealth’s Attorney, Commissioner of the Revenue, Treasurer, and Members of
the Board of Supervisors (Tie-Breaker, District 1, District 4, District 5, District 7, and District 8) to be voted for
in the general election on Tuesday, the 7th of November, 2023.
Qualifications for Participation
All legal and qualified voters of Halifax County under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of
race, religion, national origin, or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if
requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of
its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of
Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective
Candidates for the nomination, or election, at said canvass shall file the attached Filing-Form by electronic
mail (E-mail) or in person, to Chairman Andrew D. Ferguson at [email protected] or at 10148 L.
P. Bailey Memorial Highway, Virginia by Tuesday, the 2
nd of May, by 6:00 P.M. local time. If not more than one
candidate shall file for each office – except for the office of Sheriff – then such properly filed candidate shall be
deemed nominated and no canvass will be held for such purpose. A copy of the Filing-Form can be obtained

the canvass rules may also be obtained from the chairman.
There shall be no registration fee to participate in this canvass.
