Mass Meeting of the Giles County Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia

Tuesday, March 20, 2018 6:30 p.m.

As Chairman of the Giles County Republican Committee, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and
as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Mae Midkiff, do hereby issue this call for a Mass
Meeting to be held at the Giles County Courthouse, Circuit Court Courtroom, 120 North Main Street,
Pearisburg, Virginia 24134 or its alternative site, starting at 6:30 p.m. local time on March 20, 2018 for
the following purpose:

a) Electing a Giles County Republican Committee Chairman;
b) Electing Officers of the Giles County Republican Committee as follows: Vice- Chairman, Secretary,
and Treasurer;
c) Electing members of the Giles County Republican Committee;
d) Electing up to 200 Delegates and an equal number of Alternates to the Ninth Congressional District
Republican Committee Convention, to be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at George Wythe High
School, #1 Maroon Way, Wytheville, VA 24382, beginning at 10:00 a.m. local time for the purpose of
electing a District Chairperson of the Ninth Congressional District Republican Committee. Each unit is
entitled to one (1) Delegate Vote per 250 Republican votes for Governor and President at their last
election, so that Giles County is entitled to 40 Delegate Votes;
e) And for the transaction of such other business as may properly come before the mass meeting.
Qualifications for Participation
All legal and qualified voters of Giles County under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia,
regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the
Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be
required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may
participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses,
conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.

Filing Requirements
Candidates for election as Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, or Secretary of the Giles County
Republican Committee are required to pre-file their intention to seek such offices. A written statement of
intent (Committee Membership Application) containing the following details and $50 filling fee shall be
required: full legal name, office sought, physical and mailing address, email address, and telephone
number. Applications can be downloaded from the Republican Party of Giles County website at
www.gilesgop.org or picked up at the Giles Republican HQ, 116 Tazewell Street, Pearisburg, Virginia
24134. Applications must be RECEIVED by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 by mail.
Applications shall be addressed to the Giles County Republican Committee, 116 Tazewell Street,

Pearisburg, Virginia 24134. Postmarks shall not govern. No statements in any form will be accepted
after the aforementioned deadline.
Individuals seeking to be delegates or alternates to the district convention or members of the Giles
County Republican Committee are not required to pre-file. Individuals wishing to be elected delegates
or alternates to the district and/or state conventions should attend the Mass Meeting or contact Zach
Smith, Secretary, (540) 599-0678 prior to the Mass Meeting date for information on how to be
considered for election at the Mass Meeting.

Registration Fee
There will be a Mandatory $5 registration fee to participate in this Mass Meeting, 2 year Mandatory
Membership fees to the Giles Republican Committee are $10 and a $50 non-refundable filling fee to
seek a officer position within the Committee is required.
The Ninth Congressional District Republican Committee is requiring a Mandatory $10 filing fee from
all individuals seeking election as a Delegate to the Ninth Congressional District Convention. Checks
need to be made out to the “Giles County Republican Party”.
