OFFICIAL CALL OF THE PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE

Electing Delegates to the State Convention

As Chairman of the Pittsylvania County Republican Committee, and pursuant to the Republican Party of Virginia Plan of Organization (Party Plan) and as recommended by the Committee, I, William A. Pace, do hereby issue this call to elect delegates to the May 8, 2021 State Convention at which candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General will be selected between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Qualifications for Participation

All legal and qualified voters of Pittsylvania County under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.

In addition to the foregoing, to be in accord with the principles of the Republican Party, a person otherwise qualified hereunder shall not have participated in Virginia in the nominating process of a party other than the Republican Party in the last five years from March 1, 2016. A single exception to this restriction shall be approved for a voter that renounces affiliation with any other party in writing, and who expresses in writing that they are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and intends to support the nominees of the Republican Party in the future.

Filing Requirements

Those wishing to serve as delegates to the State Convention shall file the form available at https://virginia.gop/assets/uploads/2021/03/Delegate-Pre-File-For-for-Unit-Chairmen-v2.pdf, which must be received no later than Thursday, April 15 at 7:00 PM.

Pursuant to Article VII and Article XII of the Party Plan, all individuals who qualify under Article I of the Party Plan will be declared elected and no mass meeting, party canvass or convention will be held to elect delegates.

Military Provision

Any Military Member who is otherwise qualified under Article I of the Party Plan to participate in Republican Party actions and who complies with the procedures to become a delegate to the Convention, and who produces valid military identification or other proof of active-duty status shall be certified as a delegate and shall not be required to be elected as a delegate.

Military Members who are certified as delegates pursuant to the preceding paragraph who are unable to attend the convention in person due to obligations of their official military orders, shall have their votes cast within the Pittsylvania County delegation. Military Member ballots shall be made available by the RPV Chairman or his designee at least twenty (20) days prior to the convention (April 18, 2021). Ballots must be received by the RPV Chairman no later than 12:30 PM on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

Registration Fee

There will be no registration fee to a delegate to the State Convention.

This call will be published at https://virginia.gop/events/category/official-call/. The Pittsylvania County Republican Committee has eliminated the requirement to publish this call in a newspaper of general circulation by a two-thirds vote.
