Republican Party of Virginia Calls on Eugene Vindman to Clarify Discrepancies Regarding His Military Record

Richmond, Virginia – According to a new report from The Washington Free Beacon, Eugene Vindman, Democrat nominee for the Virginia 7th Congressional District, has refused to confirm the accuracy of his repeated claims that he saw combat during his military career. If Vindman expects voters to trust him to represent them in Congress, he should be transparent about his military record and erase all doubt that he is inflating his resume for political gain.

Vindman has made his time in the Army a major pillar of his campaign, stating that he “served our nation in combat” and “used assault-style weapons on the battlefield.” But, as the Beacon reports, a 2019 Daily Mail article states that he “has not seen combat.”

Instead of being straight with voters and answering for this discrepancy, Eugene Vindman has refused to answer basic questions and chosen to hide behind a left-wing political action committee – a move which appears to be a blatant violation of campaign finance law.

The Republican Party of Virginia salutes the sacrifice of everyone who serves our nation. Out of respect for all who have served, when running for political office, candidates have a responsibility to be honest with the public about the details of their military service.

Republican nominee and lifelong Virginian Derrick Anderson exemplifies this honesty and integrity. In addition to making a clear case for why conservative policies will best serve the people of the Virginia 7th, Derrick proudly served our nation on multiple overseas deployments with Army Special Forces.
