Virginia Democrats Silent on Racist Sign From Abigail Spanberger Door Knocker
As Lt. Governor Winsome Earle-Sears arrived to speak at an Arlington Public Schools School Board meeting on Thursday, a protestor who has since been identified as a volunteer for Abigail Spanberger’s gubernatorial campaign held up a disgusting racist sign.
Virginia Republicans, including Lt. Gov. Sears, John Reid, and Attorney General Jason Miyares quickly condemned the racist display.
The Republican Party of Virginia also strongly condemned the sign and called on Virginia’s statewide ticket to do the same. Abigail Spanberger could only muster a canned statement through a spokesperson – she couldn’t even be bothered to write an X post herself.
But even that pitiful effort was better than Hidin’ Ghazala Hashmi and Soft Jay Jones, who said NOTHING about the incident. How can we trust them to stand up against hate as Lt. Governor and Attorney General if they can’t even put out a statement condemning it when it is right in their faces?
Sadly, this is just par for the course for Virginia Democrats. While proclaiming to be the party of love and tolerance, they excuse and ignore blatant racist acts so long as they are directed against their political opponents.
Virginia deserves better from its elected leaders, which is precisely why Winsome Sears, John Reid, and Jason Miyares are the right choice to lead our Commonwealth in the years ahead.
