Republican Party Canvass for Constitutional

Officers of the City of Hampton

As Chairman of the Republican Party of Hampton Virginia City Committee, and pursuant to the Plan of

Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Robert Heffley, do hereby issue this call

for a Republican Party Canvass to be held at 22 Wine Street, Hampton, VA 23669 (or alternate location as

needed) from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, May 8, 2017 for the purpose of nominating a Republican

candidate for the offices of Hampton Commissioner of the Revenue, Treasurer, Commonwealths Attorney,

and Sheriff, to be voted for in the General Election on November 7, 2017.

Qualifications for Participation

All legal and qualified voters of the City of Hampton under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia,

regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party

and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to

support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the

Republican Party of Virginia in this party canvass. Each person offering to vote shall present a photographic

identification as recognized for voting by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Filing Requirements

Candidates for the Republican nomination at said canvass shall file the attached Candidate Pre-File Form by

mail or in person, to Robert Heffley or D. Luis Otero, 22 Wine Street, Hampton, VA 23669 which must be

received not later than April 7, 2017 at 5:00 PM. Post marks do not govern. This statement must be

accompanied by a $2,500.00 certified funds filing fee made payable to the Republican Party of Hampton City

Committee, petition signatures of at least 125 Hampton Registered Voters, and include an affirmative

declaration of their intent to support the Republican Party’s nominee in this General Election as identified in

Article I, Section A of the Republican Party of Virginia Plan of Organization. If only one candidate properly

files, then said candidate may be declared the Republican nominee and no canvass will be held.

Governing Rules

This Party Canvass shall, to the extent applicable, be governed by and conducted in accordance with the

following (giving precedence as listed): The State Party Plan of Organization, this Call, the attached rules, and

otherwise in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised (11th Edition).

There will be no registration fee to participate in this canvass.
