A Tale of Two Protests

Richmond, VA – This weekend, Ralph Northam and Levar Stoney allowed the Capital of Virginia to burn. It wasn’t until Sunday night, after two nights of vandalism and looting, that any action was taken. Conversely, Governor Northam declared a state of emergency and shut down Richmond two days *before* the Second Amendment protest in January. Both protests had peaceful intentions. Both protests were warranted. Both protests were responses to Democrat, big-government overreach in blue areas of the United States. Only one protest was portrayed as a violent insurgency of backward, undesirable Virginians by our Governor. (Hint: that “one protest” was in January.) RPV

RPV Calls for Delegate Lee Carter’s Immediate Resignation

Richmond, VA – Today, the Republican Party of Virginia called on Delegate Lee Carter (D-Manassas) to resign for abusing his power as an elected official in the Commonwealth of Virginia to bully and intimidate law enforcement officers and threaten to cut police budgets. RPV Chairman Jack Wilson released the following statement: “Delegate Carter has not only dishonored the memory of George Floyd, he has also cheapened any justice that his killer will face. The law enforcement officers in Manassas had nothing to do with the tragedy in Minnesota, and did not deserve to be screamed at and threatened by an elected

RPV Statement on Dictatorial Mask Mandate

Richmond, VA – Republican Party of Virginia Chairman, Jack Wilson, issued the following statement in response to Governor Ralph Northam’s dictatorial mask mandate: “Governor Northam’s latest edict infringes on the freedoms and liberties of the citizens of Virginia. This nation was founded as a direct rebuttal of tyrannical, authoritarian rule from those who thought themselves suited to govern a land to which they had no real connection. Ralph Northam appears to have forgotten that. “Maybe our tune would be different if Governor Northam had not been caught just this weekend in a crowded public area with no mask and no regard for social

Life’s a Beach

Richmond, VA – Over the Memorial Day weekend, Virginia Governor, Ralph Northam, decided to take a day off and have himself a beach day. With that in mind, there are several questions that Governor Northam must answer if he is to regain the trust of the Commonwealth: If it’s safe for Ralph Northam to go to the beach and not wear a mask and not practice good social distancing, why is it unsafe for thousands of Virginia small business owners to open their doors? If Northam issues a mandatory mask order, how does he expect Virginians to take it seriously given Northam’s own issues wearing

Republicans Dominate Local Elections

Richmond, VA – Today, thousands of Republicans from across Virginia came together and propelled Republicans to resounding victories in City Council, School Board, and many other races. “Across Virginia, Republicans flipped Democrat seats and outperformed all expectations,” said RPV Chairman Jack Wilson. “The contrast between President Trump’s leadership and Governor Northam’s god-complex filtered down and made the difference in local elections. National movements start at the grassroots, and proud Virginia Republicans are ready to carry this momentum into November!”

Buttigieg’s Former Employer Given Redaction Power in Virginia Government

Richmond, VA – Last month, the Ralph Northam Administration brought the former employer of former Democratic Presidential contender Pete Buttiegieg, McKinsey and Company, to help shore up its abysmal testing numbers. From the Virginia Mercury: “The Mercury’s Kate Masters later requested a copy of the contract via Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act and any reports McKinsey had prepared for the state for its more than half a million fee. What we got back was laughably useless as a result of copious redactions (including, bizarrely and illicitly, the name of the McKinsey partner who signed the contract) and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management’s

Northam, Stoney Tell Richmond, “Kick Rocks”

Richmond, VA – In what has become an administration defined by preventable mistakes and costly blunders, Ralph Northam, in conjunction with Richmond Mayor, Levar “Navy Hill” Stoney, decided to ignore his own regional guidance and delay the City of Richmond’s Phase I reopening for two weeks. Northam’s move gave Richmond restaurants fewer than 24 hours to re-prepare for another two weeks of losing money. But there is one question yet unanswered: why did Northam abandon his regional plan? It could be because Henrico and Chesterfield counties are run by Republicans who, unlike Democrats, understand the importance of reopening Virginia and allowing families

Buckle up or get out

Wexton, Luria, and Spanberger are returning to DC today to vote on allowing proxy voting in the House that allows one member of Congress to vote on behalf of 10 other members.  That means as few as 20 members will be able to constitute a majority to pass bills containing whatever asinine idea Nancy Pelosi can come up with while shoving her face full of Jeni’s “chaaaaaklate” ice-cream.    While frontline workers across the country are putting their lives on the line and showing up for work every day, House Democrats are changing 200 years of precedent so they can stay home safe and sound. If

Northam Makes Another Mistake

Richmond, VA – In a shockingly unfortunate and unsurprising snafu, the Virginia Employment Commission overpaid 35,000 people what they were owed through the CARES Act. From the Virginia Mercury: “The good news: After waiting weeks for the state to set up an online system to allow self-employed workers to collect pandemic assistance through the CARES Act, people began receiving their first checks last week. The bad news: Just over 35,000 of them were overpaid between $600 and $1,200 — money the state says will be deducted from future checks.—Self-employed workers and independent contractors — a category that ranges from Uber drivers

RPV Urges Northam to Stop Willingly Hurting Virginians

Richmond, VA – On Friday, Virginia Democrat Governor, Ralph Northam, blindsided members of his own COVID-19 business task force by continuing his strict, authoritarian, and draconian lockdown. Two business owners in the Virginia Beach – Norfolk region said they were “disappointed and surprised” that Phase I of Northam’s plan does not address any issues they are facing. Northam’s weak approach to reopening Virginia has left many of our most vulnerable communities even more at risk. From the InsideNova Editorial Board: “It’s past time for Northam to provide certainty. We appreciate his thrice-weekly news conferences and applaud his metrics-based “dimmer switch” approach to easing
