Democrats Put Party First

Richmond, VA – While families, workers, and businesses across the country are in dire need of aid, Democrats continue to block bipartisan legislation to help provide relief, demanding the addition of coastal elite ideals and pipe dreams that have nothing to do with helping Americans. The obstruction and partisanship by Mark Warner, Tim Kaine, Elaine Luria, Bobby Scott, Don McEachin, Abigail Spanberger, Don Beyer, Jennifer Wexton, and Gerry Connolly should be strongly condemned. Democrats have blocked the coronavirus relief package because the liberals in the Virginia delegation wants to use the bill to advance their radical agenda. See below for examples of some of

Virginia Democrats Hope for Coronavirus Chaos

Richmond, VA – In a shockingly disgusting, purely partisan move, Democrats Mark Warner and Tim Kaine joined Chuck Shumer and Nancy Pelosi in blocking critical Coronavirus relief legislation for American families. The Democrats in Virginia’s federal delegation have officially pinned their re-election hopes on a tanking economy in the last year of President Trump’s first term. Is commissioning a study on climate change relevant to combating the Coronavirus? Mark Warner thinks so. Are changes to collective bargaining important to fighting this disease? Mark Warner thinks so. “Americans are scared,” said RPV Chairman Jack Wilson. “And all Mark Warner can think about is his re-election. Torpedoing bipartisan legislation in an attempt to

RPV Postpones 2020 Convention in Response to COVID-19 Pandemic

Richmond, VA – Today, the Republican Party of Virginia announced that it would postpone its 2020 Quadrennial State Convention to a later date. The RPV’s top priority is the health and well-being of Virginia’s citizens, and with that in mind, its convention will be moved to a later date. That date will be determined as the COVID-19 situation progresses. The RPV’s Executive Committee unanimously agreed to postpone the convention. “We will not let this setback define our 2020 efforts,” said RPV Chairman Jack Wilson. “Republicans are more energized than ever to flip Virginia for President Trump and send our do-nothing Senator, Mark Warner,

3/18/20 Covid-19 Party Memo

Dear Virginia Republicans, As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our daily lives in ever-changing ways. With each update, we are all called to adjust our plans, or to make new decisions.  As our lives are upended, we are very fortunate to have President Donald Trump and his Administration leading us through these uncertain times. Seldom in our history has the strong leadership of our nation been so imperative as right now! By following their guidance and directions, we will come through this challenge together.   The Republican Party of Virginia also faces many new challenges caused by

March 28 SCC Meeting Cancelled

Dear State Central Committee Member, In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, President Trump and the CDC recommend that no gatherings of 10 or more people be held.  Governor Northam today announced that he was banning such gatherings. Shortly thereafter, the Richmond Convention Center advised us that the space for our meeting on March 28th is no longer available. In order to protect the health of all and to comply with the recommendations and bans in place, we have no alternative but to cancel the March 28th meeting of the State Central Committee. Please know that I am working with the

3/15/20 Covid-19 Party Memo

Today, Gov. Northam announced a prohibition on special event gatherings of 100 or more people, and reiterated the need to maintain social distancing.  In particular, the Governor highlighted an outbreak on the Peninsula where local governments have requested that gatherings of 50 or more not take place.   I have consulted with RPV’s General Counsel, and based on that, RPV recommends the following: Units with scheduled mass meetings, party canvasses, and conventions should use common sense in deciding how to proceed.  The prohibition on special event gatherings applies to events where 100 or more are in the same room for a

Daniel Gade Passes RPV “Pre-Check” for U.S. Senate Primary

Richmond, VA – Today, the Republican Party of Virginia announced that Republican U.S. Senate candidate Daniel Gade has passed its “pre-check” of the campaign’s petition signatures. The RPV reviewed the signatures on the petitions submitted, and the Gade campaign passed the pre-check process with the required signatures to meet the 10,000 statewide and 400 per Congressional District demands of Virginia law. The Virginia Department of Elections will ultimately certify his ballot access. “Getting 10,000+ signatures is no easy task,” said RPV Chairman Jack Wilson. “I applaud Gade and his team for their efforts. Elections are won and lost at the grassroots level, and our Republican candidates are

Thomas Speciale Passes RPV “Pre-Check” for U.S. Senate Primary

Richmond, VA – Today, the Republican Party of Virginia announced that Republican U.S. Senate candidate Thomas Speciale has passed its “pre-check” of the campaign’s petition signatures. The RPV reviewed the signatures on the petitions submitted, and the Speciale campaign passed the pre-check process with the required signatures to meet the 10,000 statewide and 400 per Congressional District demands of Virginia law. The Virginia Department of Elections will ultimately certify his ballot access. “Getting 10,000+ signatures is no easy task,” said RPV Chairman Jack Wilson. “I applaud Speciale and his team for their efforts. DEMS IN DISARRAY

Richmond, VA – In case you missed it, the Democratic Party of Virginia has turned into a full-on tire fire, and it’s a real shame. It all started with Democrat mega-donor Michael Bills pulling his (Clean Virginia’s) sponsorship of the Blue Commonwealth Gala over concerns with the DPVA honoring Justin Fairfax as one of their keynote speakers. Losing the dynamic duo of Bills/Clean Virginia is a big blow to Democrats’ fundraising operation, given that Bills gave $200,000 to the DPVA in 2019 and Clean Virginia gave nearly $250,000 to Democrat candidates in 2019. But that’s not all. In keeping with the DPVA tradition of celebrating racist politicians, Michael

RPV Statement on Defeat of Assault Weapons Ban

Richmond, VA – Today, the Virginia State Senate voted to “carry over” an anti-Second Amendment bill designed to strip thousands of Virginians of their rights, also known as HB 961. While Democrats are undoubtedly disappointed that Virginia stood up for itself, this bill is dead until next session. “This is what happens when you organize and take action,” said RPV Chairman Jack Wilson. “To the tens of thousands of Virginians that came from all over the Commonwealth to advocate for your rights, your efforts were rewarded. While the fight is far from over, Republicans should feel good about what happened today.” “The Republican Party
